'Genoa'

Genoa is the first in a series of menswear collaborations between Cambrensis and Magnetic, created as a tribute to Italian–Welsh heritage. The project unites the Cambrensis vision of South Wales with Magnetic’s anthology inspired by the early years of legendary Italian designer Massimo Osti in the UK.

 

Genoa served as a major port and point of departure for Italians seeking work and better opportunities abroad, particularly in Wales’ booming coal and steel industries during the early 20th century and later the thriving café trade.

 

Together, the collaboration celebrates the influence of Italian families who shaped Welsh communities - from the boys from Bardi, to the Bracchi’s in the Valleys, the Carpanini’s, and the Viazzani’s, to name just a few. Genoa pays omaggio to their culture and their style, weaving two identities into one story that continues to evolve through fashion.
