The Little Collier

The story of The Little Collier was brought to life through a dedicated fashion film, filmed at Cyfarthfa Castle in Merthyr Tydfil, where Dewi Bowen was head of art when the building served as a school. The film also featured some of Dewi’s former students, bringing together people who had been directly influenced by his teaching and artistic legacy. Narrated by BBC broadcaster Roy Noble, a friend of Dewi, the film explores the connection between Dewi’s artwork, Welsh heritage and the contemporary identity of Cambrensis. It marked a significant step in bringing an important piece of the Bowen family archive into the world of the fashion house.

The Little Collier has since become an enduring part of the Cambrensis identity, appearing across the brand’s work and collections while remaining rooted in its original story. Its legacy was further brought into the public realm through a permanent Little Collier mural in the new Merthyr Tydfil Indoor Market, connecting Dewi Bowen’s original artwork with the community and place that inspired it. Through The Little Collier, a piece of Welsh heritage passed down through generations continues to find new life through Cambrensis.
